HUNTERSVILLE, NC (3-19/20-10) - While most may think a full time school schedule mixed with the 2010 ARCA Racing Series schedule would be enough, enter Joey Coulter.

When not racing his No. 16 Darrell Gwynn Foundation, Tempest Cycles, Rip It Energy Fuel Chevrolet on the ARCA circuit, you can undoubtedly find the UNCC (University of North Carolina at Charlotte) sophomore Mechanical Engineering major hitting the books. When the books close, Coulter then goes a few steps further - appearances, interviews, golf tournaments, super late model racing, and working in the shop.

"The busier I stay, the more productive I feel at the end of the day," commented Coulter. "For me it's not just about racing in ARCA on the weekends; I want to carry everything I learn to the next event, whether it be another ARCA race, test or super late model race. I also want to make myself available to every fan, event, and interview. Without them none of us would be able to do what we love, and I appreciate them all."

Coulter's busy week started bright and early Monday morning (3/15/10) as he headed to Mint Hill, NC for a charity golf tournament. Charlotte's minor league hockey team (ECHL), the Checkers, invited Coulter and his team to participate, and help raise money for local charities. Coulter made sure he had an all-star lineup behind him, most with roots deep in ARCA, including Dave Jamison, or better known as ARCA Dave from HutchBSR, Corey Lacosta from Racing Electronics, Marshal Zalewski from MAD Industry (tire carrier for #55), Nic Moncher Coulter Motorsports PR, and ringer Michael Huffman representing Rip It Energy Fuel. The team would go on to a second place finish on the day, hitting a 54.

Tuesday and Wednesday were full of classes at UNCC for Coulter, ranging from calculus to engineering courses. He still made time for an interview/appearance Tuesday night at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, NC. Coulter was a special guest of Doc Love on the "Kickin' Asphalt" radio show and later participated in some kart racing with the fans. Wednesday saw another interview, as Coulter performed his weekly show, "5 @ 5 with Joey Coulter" on RaceFanRadio.com.

"I always say that you can judge how well your PR person is doing by how much free time you have," joked Coulter. "Well I'd say my PR guy (Nic Moncher) is doing well because I am staying very busy. It's a fun experience to go to these different events and interact with all of the fans, they have a blast and so do I."

Thursday was a test day for the Coulter Motorsports team, as they took their short track car and headed to Tri County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC. Crew Chief Harold Holly wanted to use the day to shake down the car and prepare for the upcoming swing of ARCA races. Coulter quickly adapted to the track and was turning fast laps all day long.

"Tri County went really well, and it is a great place to perform a short track test," added Coulter. "We learned a lot and got the car dialed in well. It is always fun to go to places like that and shake a car down. I am now ready for Talladega next week and cannot wait to get there. My guys have been preparing hard and I know we will be good there."

Friday you will be able to find Coulter in the teams shop in Huntersville, NC, putting the finishing touches on the Talladega test cars (3/23-24/10). The team plans to have the hauler loaded by early afternoon, when Coulter will again hit the road, traveling to nearby Charlotte to make a special appearance at a Charlotte Checkers hockey game at 7:00 PM.

This Saturday and Sunday finds Coulter back in the shop finishing up the team's show car in preparation for its use this year, before Coulter travels south to Talladega Monday morning to get ready for the ARCA open test.

Other Weekend Planners.......

Alli Owens/Steve Arpin

The week is already coming to an end and what an interesting few days it has been. My team mate Steve Arpin and I have been in the shop all week helping and hanging out with our team while they worked extremely hard to get our speedways cars ready to go. We also had an opportunity to do a photo shoot at the shop. Let me tell you, it's so hard not to laugh while working with Arpin in front of a camera! Him and I are working hard to make sure we are doing all we can to improve our selves inside and outside the race car. This weekend is pretty important for Steve Arpin and I. One of the things we are taught here at Venturini Motorsports is how to apply 'Best Practices' to our career in its development stages. Steve and I realized that we need to be a student of the game and learn how to network within the walls of this industry. With that being said Steve and I are both headed to Bristol for the Nationwide and Cup race. While Steve is traveling there and enjoying the weekend at the races with his wife, I will be accompanied by a few other female drivers. Alison MacLeod is still here visiting so she is going to go to Bristol with me as well as staying for the Talladega Test, Leilani Munter will be joining us on our "Girls Weekend at the Races" venture, and possibly Shawna Robinson too! Once we get back on Sunday it will be time to pack up again, but this time the destination is Talladega for the test! I'm sure Steve and I will be anxious to get back in our bad-fast speedway

Justin Marks: We've been real busy lately on getting our business started here in Charlotte.  We've been making a lot of progress and the next 8 weeks are going to be instrumental for us.  Definitely looking forward to announcing the plan shortly.  Friday will be a welcome sight so we're going to try and enjoy a few days off.  This weekend, me and the girlfriend are going to Asheville to celebrate our birthdays in the mountains.  Other than that, I have a lot of good friends competing in the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring on Saturday so I'll be keeping up with that as well as all of the NCAA Tournament games.

Brad Smith: Leave work Friday afternoon, meet my brother at the shop in Belleville, MI, pick-up the small Hauler loaded with racing tires, go to the ARCA office in Temperance, MI and pick-up the Hauler we had previously purchased from ARCA, proceed to Uncle Bucks shop in Indianapolis, unload tires & load up the intermediate car, proceed to Zink Sign in Salem and drop off the new Hauler for body wrap, then proceed to Gene Patient's shop in Nashville to drop off the intermediate car for a new nose & tail. Get home late Saturday night & spend all-day Sunday working on the short-track car for Salem. Be back to work at 6:00AM Monday morning.

Nick Igdalsky: I plan to attend a charity benefit for my nephew Logan and another sick little boy on Saturday. Logan is not yet 2 years old and undergoing treatment for a rare type of cancer called Neuroblastoma.

He was diagnosed in stage 4 with this rare cancer at 15 months. Only 600 children are diagnosed with this cancer in the United States each year. Logan has had an amazing response to his treatment and he is currently in full remission and undergoing Immune-therapy at Sloan Kettering in NYC.

Mikey Kile: This weekend I am planning on taking it easy and watching the Nationwide and Cup races with my son Peyton and wife Kasha. We also might go watch my Uncle's Sportsnationals drag race in Belle Rose, LA. I can't wait for the open test at Talladega with Venturini Motorsports so this weekend I am going to get ready to leave for on Monday for the test.

Leilani Munter: I will be in Bristol this weekend with Alli Owens and Alison Macleod - it's girl racer weekend! I will be meeting with some potential sponsors as well as a few companies that are interested in retrofitting their buildings with LED lighting from my Daytona sponsor, GREENandSAVE.
